Figs in Wigs
Little Wimmin
Presentation
Figs in Wigs are back (again) and this time they’ve got their period (dresses). A live art, feminist ‘adaptation’ of Louisa May Alcott’s classic novel Little Women.
Art form: Theatre
Age guidance: 12+
Duration: 1h 40m + interval
Sensitive content: Characters expressing anger, heavily dialogue-driven scenes, flashing lights, haze, loud/repetitive/high pitched/unexpected or overlapping sound, strong language/swearing, special effects (e.g. smoke/bubbles/pyrotechnics), total audience blackout
Space requirements: 8 metres by 6 metres deep, minimum rig height 5 metres, must have wings
Show Description
Wild, irreverent, and cosmically comical, this production dismantles the traditional canon to make way for the doomed future of humankind.
Prepare to laugh at the traditions of theatre and poke fun at our obsession with ‘the classics’ as the Figs use the story as their very own trojan horse, turning it on its head and mutating it into an unrecognisable cartoon catastrophe that talks about climate change, astrology, and the infinite nature of the universe.
p.s. Beth dies.
Artist Information
Figs in Wigs are a UK based female led performance company. For the last 10 years they have been making epic, genre-bending performance that sits somewhere between live art, music, theatre, comedy, and dance. They make work collaboratively with a DIY approach – writing, directing, choreographing, composing, and performing all their creative output.
Figs in Wigs are recklessly joyful, highly visual and unashamedly revels in tackiness and trashiness. With an irreverent sense of humour, they use puns, bad jokes, and pop culture references to charm and disarm audiences of all ages.
